Setting Up the Demo Campaign

Last Updated: Dec 28, 2012 05:25PM MST

Every new account is pre-loaded with a Sample Campaign that you can use as a demo or "proof-of-capability" out of the box.

The sample campaign is also pre-loaded with sample data. You can view (and download) the data under List Management.

A sample landing page can be downloaded on the Landing Page Integration page. Download the sample, and either run locally in QueryString mode or post it to a Web server.

Running Locally in QueryString Mode

Because purlHub uses a JavaScript API to communicate and render the page, you can develop and run your pages in a Web browser on your local machine just like HTML. The only caveat is that you 'll need to identify your personalized URLs via query string using the _purl parameter. For example:

C:\Documents and Settings\Joe User\My Documents\sample.html?_purl=ElnoraAustrell73

Running on a Web Server in Path Mode

Using path-based personalized URLs, such as http://www.example.com/ElnoraAustrell73, requires some simple server-side configuration. See detailed instruction for Path-based purl Setup.

Security Settings

Before you can run your demo page, you need to authorize the page to access your purlHub campaign. Every purlHub campaign has an API token with an Access Control List (ACL) defining the specific URLs that are allowed to connect to your data.

By default, the "local.files" rule is added to your ACL allowing you to run locally off your hard drive. If you post the sample page online, you need a add a rule to the ACL allowing access to the specific URL of the page. For example, http://www.example.com/lp/*

That's it. You have a working demo, as well as a simple example to learn from.
